2026 TIMELINE

Please take note of important dates for the 2026 COMTO CITY Internship Program:

  • Intern Orientation: Wednesday, May 27, 2026
  • Internship Program: June 1 – August 7, 2026
  • COMTO 55th National Meeting and Training Conference: July 25 – July 28, 2026
  • Final Professional Development Webinar: Thursday, August 6, 2026

INTERN ELIGIBILITY

CITY Interns must be eligible to work in the United States or Canada. Interns must be interested in the transportation industry and be an undergraduate (junior or senior) or graduate student. Students are required to be enrolled full-time in the coming fall academic term, with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Interns must be willing to authorize COMTO HQ or partner agencies to conduct a background check if necessary. Students in STEAM disciplines are encouraged to apply.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Resume | A 1-page resume that outlines your work and volunteer experience, leadership skills, education, awards, and any transportation-related work or academic experience.

Essay / Letter of Motivation | Essays that do not list the applicant's name in the header or footer will not be accepted.

Transcript | A copy of your most recent official academic transcript.

Letter of Recommendation | One written recommendation from your academic advisor, department chair, a professor in your academic major, or your employer, is required; you may submit 2 letters. Letters of Recommendations must be dated and signed.

  • Applications must be submitted online by the application closing date. Emailed applications will not be accepted.
  • All fields and attachments are required. Incomplete applications will not be considered. 
  • Essays that do not list the applicant's name in the header or footer will not be accepted. 
  • Former CITY Interns may apply if they meet eligibility requirements but will not receive preferential consideration.
